After spending weeks dedicated to locate suitable pieces, James meticulously cleaned every part and welds them together.

He said: "I was working in a warehouse of scrap and type I know, that ran races stock cars, showed me a Trophy winner fact with levers of change." "I looked at it and I thought that I could do a much better job so I started making my own sculptures."

Att000346

"After a period of time, people began to become more and more in what I was doing and now what do I win me life, is a dream come reality."

Att000357

"On average, each piece takes a little over two weeks of work, but the larger pieces can take much longer”, he says.

James says that welding and the sculpture of the parts is not the part that consumes most time of the artist. "Often the longest part of the process is finding old parts suitable for sculpture."

The sculptor is exhibiting his work in the Gallery John Davies in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, England, until December 19.

Market Update 05/21/2010

Started on May 6th, markets have been clouded by the raising fears in Europe, and traders cross the board have been riding the roller coaster. I believe most of them lost big in such wild swings while minority took the profits. Particularly in FX market, most European currencies as well as commodity currencies such as AUD and CAD have moved down thousand pips against USD  in weeks. VIX index reached multi month high. For trend catcher like us the best place to be is to stay on sideline till the market shows the sign of direction.

My view is that it is certain that the fear will go away very soon but it is time to get in, if you have the stomach to absorb some pain. Crude oil broke $70/barrel yesterday, along with over 300 points down on Dow. However, if you look at the bigger picture, what happens? Nothing. Just fears in Europe. Is it going to be the serious problem causing global recession again? Possible, but I don't think it is very likely. US economy is not going to recover soon until labor market has a major improvement but it already shows the sign of stabilization, meaning that even though we are not out of wood yet we are approaching the bottom. Yes, some of European nations worries market. Let's face it. Let's say if Euro dropped to 1.1 or even parity against USD, what happens? Yes, it will put a major dent on global economy and prolong the recovery of world economy. However, where investors worldwide will put their money at? USD dominated assets including buying US stocks. I don't know where else will be safer than US for investors' money if European situation is getting worse. It will make US economy look better and attract more foreign investments to US, which I believe it is beneficial to US economy and recovery. The reason to get in the market is that yes 99% of US shares have been down in past weeks but the prices were driven by the "external factors" , rather than their own problems. So I think it is a good time to pick those fundamentally sound shares. Unless you pick on the shares that will fall on rock they will have good chance to bounce back once market settle down.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its Newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center .

 1. No plastic containers in microwave.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

4. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

5. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

6. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

7. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

8. Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware or ceramic containers for heating food. You ge t the sam e results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.  Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

9. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

10. Also, he pointed out that Saran wrap is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.

11. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

Market Update 3/21/10

USDCNY will be a key issue in FX area for next few months and it has been the long arguments between Chinese Government and US governement. Since this issue has been politicalized it would be naive to weight on the outcome simply by looking at economic benefits and costs. However, USD does show some sign of strong momentum on basket of currencies, which are the components of Dollar Index: Euro 57%, GBP 15%...From technical point, USD will be testing 82 key level. In the meanwhile, high yield currencies such as AUD and NZD are still having edge over USD for those who are taking on carry trades. ( interest differentials)

Personally US will be put on the serious test because of its unprecedented budget deficits, which need solid economic growth to back it up, not by borrowings. The truth of matter is, US, along with UK, will be questioned if they could keep AAA country rating anymore. That is a serious matter.
